SDHS Everyday Wish List

IMPORTANT EVERY DAY ITEMS USED AT THE SHELTER

Medical Supplies Used Every Day

  • Non-clumping, unscented litter.
  • Royal Canin Foods (Baby Cat/Dog Milk Replacer, Baby Cat/Dog, Kitten/Puppy, Adult, Aging 7+ and 12+, different specialty foods).
    • These can be purchased at the shelter for the animals.
  • Performatrin or other Grain Free foods (dogs and cats).
  • Medical foods such as Uniary or CD, Gastrointestinal with Fibre Response, please ask volunteers what is needed at the time.
  • Large bottles of drinking water (18.9 litres).

Medical Supplies Used Every Day

  • 1ml, 3ml, 5ml, 10ml slip tip syringes.
  • L-Lysine.
  • Lactulose.
  • Lactated Ringer's.
  • Alcohol, peroxide, chlorhexidine (or other antiseptic solution).
  • Prescribed medications such as Isathal or Tobrex Eye drops, multiple antibiotics, topical ointments, or donations towards these items.
  • 3ml syringes with 25 gauge needles.
  • 18-gauge needles.
  • 1ml or 40 unit Insulin needles.
  • Pro Gut or other acidophilus/probiotic supplement as directed.
  • Q-Tips (long or short).
  • Small bottles of saline solution.
  • Donations towards vaccinations.
  • Donations towards vaccinations.
  • Medical tape.
  • Veterinary wrap (different sizes and any colour).
  • SHARPS containers.

Cleaning Supplies Used Every Day

  • Bottled water (10-litre jugs).
  • Cleaning (washing) cloths and drying (dish) towels.
  • Bleach
  • Dawn original dish soap.
  • Paper towels.
  • Heavy-duty garbage bags.
  • Purell hand sanitizer refills or bottles of sanitizer.
  • Unscented laundry soap and dryer sheets.
  • Vinegar (cleaning vinegar preferred).

Food & Supplies Used Every Day

  • Black pens.
  • Black "Sharpies" markers.
  • Printer paper (white, canary yellow, pink, light green, light blue, bright orange, grey).
  • Printer ink " Canon 1200" (XL preferred due to the amount of printing done each day).
  • File Folders (letter size).
  • Tape and push pins.
  • Binder clips (small, medium, and large).
  • Zip ties.
 

It is very normal for SDHS to have 125 plus animals in care each day.... they won't stay long as they get adopted quickly once of age, medically treated/healed, spayed/neutered and readied for adoption. It is a revolving door as more enter the system.
